10/15/2021 0 Comments What's Happening this WeekSo we haven't posted in a bit, but the library has been busy with extra activities, planning future events and all kinds of things. Not that we aren't thinking about the garden. The seed pods on the Butterfly Weed have opened and the seeds are blowing away, much like milkweed seeds. The sneezeweed is still blooming, but even that is now starting to wane. Most of the flowers have begun their fall die back, seed dispersal and overall end of summer shindig.
Now that fall is finally on its way (can't really say its here as its still way to warm), we will be focused on FeederWatch. The birdfeeders just went up yesterday in preparation and the seed is arriving at the library. We've already had chickadees, tufted titmice, a woodpecker and plenty of house sparrows visit, as well a a few fluffy tailed squirrels. We've even put out a few leftover pumpkins from storytime to begin attracting our feeder friends. It's been nice to see the feeders active with birds again. We're going to have to keep a close eye on our feeders though. Our birds seem to have attracted another visitor; this little predator has been eyeing our feeders too.
