6/9/2021 0 Comments New GardensWe haven't posted in a while, but that is because we have been busy getting the new gardens into shape and they've expanded. Yes that's right, while last year we struggled a bit getting the new gardens in and keeping them alive. The library decided to expand on that project. The pollinator garden was expanded and is now a true wildlife garden. We've also upgraded the perennial garden located in the side yard (which we were unable to do last year) and we added a third garden: a sensory garden, complete with smells, sights, tastes and sounds. And of course with all the new plants, we've made sure that we have a hose to help keep them alive with this heat. Bye Bye lugging water!
We're looking to use the gardens more this summer for events, such as Art in the Garden and for special events for the kids. In fact just earlier this week, we did a butterfly release. Normally when we do this the butterflies all fly away, but this time we had a few that stayed around to investigate and taste the new flowers. It was a wonderful experience (see the picture below). We hope to very soon get the plant list and the garden maps up onto our resource page so you can see the species that we have added, as well as more pictures of the gardens for this blog. So keep an eye out for some interesting and lovely things.
