1/28/2022 0 Comments New Feeder VisitorsThis week had some new visitors to the feeders: the Eastern bluebird and an American red squirrel. The bluebirds made everyone here at the library very excited because most of the staff had never seen one in person, so every time they were spotted everyone flocked to the window. For a while they stayed to eating the berries in the trees, but today two of them came to the actual feeders, so everyone could get a real good view.
Later in the afternoon a "baby squirrel" was spotted, but upon closer examination, Miss Renee determined it to be not a chipmunk, not a baby gray squirrel, not a baby at all but an American red squirrel. They're half the size of the gray squirrel and have very distinct coloring and a white circle around the eye. It was a fun sight to see, even if he was eating the birdseed. Below is the picture of the American red squirrel and we were unable to get a picture of the Eastern bluebird (but we've included a picture from All About Birds, a website by Cornell University).
